Open Gold Expeditions
For small groups and individuals who are unable to complete their expedition at their school or unit we offer a programme of Open Gold Expeditions.
In order to complete the Gold Expedition section participant’s need to complete a programme of training and a practice expedition. Once these are completed they then need to plan and undertake a 4 day qualifying expedition.
Our open programmes offer individuals or small groups the opportunity to complete these requirements by bringing together a group of highly motivated and likeminded individuals to form expedition teams.
Our friendly and experienced instructors will prepare and support each individual, ensuring all participants have a safe, enjoyable and successful expedition. Our instructors will also work with the “open programme teams” to ensure variety and that all individuals experience the appropriate level of challenge.

All the locations we use for our Open Gold Expeditions are easily accessible by car, bus and rail links.
Costs
£230 per person
We require a deposit of £50 to confirm your place, the remaining balance is due 28 days before your expedition commences
What we include
- Pre-expedition information pack containing all the information you need including location details, transport and kit lists etc.
- Accommodation prior to the start of the expedition, this may be either bunk barn or camping depending upon the expedition location.
- Camping fees for the remaining 3 nights.
- All group equipment including tents, stoves, & maps etc
- Guidance and support from experienced, qualified and friendly instructors
What you need to provide
Transport to and from the expedition venue
All your own expedition food - we will provide guidance on this
All personal items of equipment - we will provide a comprehensive kit list
The next step
If you would like to book onto one of our Open Gold programmes you will need to be aged 16 – 25 and must be enrolled on to the Gold DofE Award.
To join a qualifying expedition you must also have completed a training programme and a practice expedition and have your record book signed off by your DofE Leader.
If would like to join one of our expeditions please complete an application form and return it to us along with a deposit of £50 per expedition.

Note
This programme is subject to approval by your Operating Authority, it is your responsibility to contact them and confirm it fulfils their requirements.
Please note we require a minimum of 10 participants to run an Open Gold Expedition. In the unlikely event that the numbers drop below this we will contact you to discuss the options which may include cancelling the expedition.
